How to Practice Fire Meditation – A Beginner’s Guide

Here is a quick and very simple guide that will help you to make the most out of inner fire meditation:

  1. Sit in a comfortable position, using the right meditation support for you.
  2. Start by visualizing yourself as an empty space eager to be filled. Think of yourself as a hollow, large balloon. Try to focus on this image, and make it a positive one.
  3. Continue by visualizing a channel that goes up, starting from your toes to the top of your head. Establish this visualization in your mind.
  4. Imagine how your energy is traveling through that vertical channel you’ve just imagined. Moreover, imagine a ball of flame that is ignited by your breath. Imagine your breath going into that ball of fire and stop breathing for at least 10 seconds. Experienced fire meditation practitioners and gurus can hold their breath for up to 5 minutes, but you should not try to hold it for more than 15 seconds, especially in the beginning.
  5. Now it’s the time to release all the energy you’ve created. Slowly breathe out the remaining air and imagine that all the fire inside the ball is released, bursting out from the top of your head. In case you need healing, try to imagine that you are releasing this energy all throughout your body.
  6. Repeat steps 2 through 5 for at least 5 times, up to 10 times.

Personally, I consider that this practice is by far the best I’ve ever encountered. Even though Tummo meditation practitioners have not yet mastered the skills of most Tibetan gurus who can withstand heat, cold weather and even fire, many people have still managed to remove anxiety, gain more inner peace and greatly improve their focus.
