So What Basically is Fire Meditation
Inner fire meditation is undoubtedly one of the most sophisticated forms of breath control meditation. Many gurus and yogi have declared that their life has been prolonged so long because they practice this powerful form of meditation. And this is proven by statistics. People who live in Tibet and have been practicing the breath of fire for more than 20 years live up to 20 years more. That means one year extra of life per year of practicing fire meditation.
There are more than 70,000 nerves in the human body. Out of these, 72 are very important and 10 are vitals. Fire meditation revolves around stimulating these 10 vital nerves in order to help you take control over your mind, body and soul.
Secrets of Inner Fire Meditation
The benefits, tips and any other piece of information that I’m about to share with you are considered to be highly regarded secrets in the Tibetan Buddhist Vajrayana tradition. Not many people have heard of this meditation technique, and if you look online for Tummo or flame meditation, you will most likely end up on irrelevant pages.
The reason I’m giving away these tips is that this method is way too good to be kept hidden. I want to help you tap into the enormous potential offered by inner fire meditation that helps you clear your mind, deal with anxiety, heal your body and bring tremendous joy into your life.
According to a famous Tibetan guru, Lama Thuben Yeshe, flame meditation is extremely effective for westerners, because it is a powerful practice that brings quick results, thus enabling the busy people in the Western culture to reap the benefits of meditation without spending a huge amount of time.
Before starting to practice inner fire meditation, many people could barely do two things at the same time. Fire meditation practitioners were only capable of watching TV and brushing their teeth, but they were not able to watch the TV and talk on the phone while paying attention to both tasks. However, with time, most of them got to the point where they can talk on the phone, watch the TV and also make plans for the weekend. And that’s not all. Tummo meditation has given them much more vitality, enabling these lucky men and women to live each day at its fullest.
Here are a few inner fire meditation studies and experiments that have been conducted over the years in order to demonstrate the potential of this meditation approach.
- In 1982, a well-famed researcher called Herbert Benson along with some of his colleagues decided to study the physiological effects of practicing fire meditation. They conducted an experiment on three Yogis who were living in the Himalayas. The results were impressive. In addition to an increased awareness and a capacity to remember more, the study concluded that all three subjects have managed to increase their body temperature by up to 5 degrees, and to boost the temperature in their fingers and toes by almost 9 degrees.
- In 2012, another experiment related to Tummo has been conducted in Normandy, France. The result was similar – monks who practice inner fire meditation have managed to dry three sheets soaked in cold water in less than 4 hours. Here are other breathtaking results which all prove that flame meditation is as real as it gets.
Herbert Benson, the brain behind all studies relating to inner flame meditation, is a world-class professor at the Harvard Medical School, a reputable scientist and the president of the Body & Mind Institute which is part of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center from Boston. All of the studies conducted by teams led by him prove that Tibetan meditation is genuine.
In addition to what the studies have concluded, that monks who practice Tummo meditation can raise their body temperature, Herbert Benson has listed another 7 powerful benefits that are related to inner fire meditation.
7 Benefits of Inner Fire Meditation
- More Vitality and Improved Health
Tummo meditation has been practiced for centuries in Tibet, India and Japan. While it is known as fire meditation in Tibet, Indian practitioners refer to it as Prana and Japanese samurai call it Reiki. In China, Tummo is called Chi. Over the years, the practitioners of inner fire meditation in South East Asia have found out that the mysterious forces within us that are awakened during meditation are associated with more healing, improved health and a better quality of life.
If you were wondering why Asians live up to 40% more than Americans or Europeans, you’ve got your answer. These meditation practices combined with a healthy lifestyle and less stressful lives have enabled them to live up to 110 years and feel great even after 90 years of age. Not the same can be said about many of us, who at 40 already feel old.
Inner Fire meditation harness the energy from within, making it grow and enabling it to take control over your body. As a result, you enjoy an improvement in health, more vitality and a durable boost in energy.
- Improved Concentration and Clarity
This unique practice requires breathing exercises, focused attention and visualization. Tibetan monks have kept this secret for a long period of time. This secret includes using all the three practices, namely breathing, visualization and attention, to reach a common goal.
Once you use all of the above practices in your meditation session, you will notice that you will develop a keen sense of awareness and you will be able to stay sharp all throughout the day. This is a huge benefit of inner fire meditation that will help you to be more productive at work, save time during the day and maximize your potential.
- Enjoy More Self-Confidence
This is one of my favorite benefits of fire meditation. Regardless of the fire meditation technique you choose to use, the outcome of your sessions will be a surge in confidence and more power. Practicing this form of meditation on a daily basis enables you to connect to your power within and tap into the second chackra, which is associated with creativity, physical power and sexuality.
Fire meditation enables you to focus your energy into a positive way, enabling you to dispel confusion and build long-lasting confidence in your skills. In Tai Chi, Chinese practitioners have taken this aspect a little bit further, using fire meditation to enable fighters to achieve impressive balance and fighting skills. If you’ve seen people busting through cement blocks and walking on burning coals without burning their feet, you should know that they’ve tapped into the power of fire meditation to acquire that unnatural focus.
- Open the Chakras
Many people who are into meditation have been wondering how they could easily open their chakras. Inner meditation enables you to do just that and enjoy that unique clarity and bliss that is reserved only for those who persist. Even beginners can learn how to open their chakras and understand the true human nature.
Probably the ultimate goal of every meditation practitioner is to unite with the Divine nature and discover more things about himself. In Tibetan Buddhism, this concept is of paramount importance, because it enables people to find their true goal in life, and once it is found, they also discover a whole new level of satisfaction and their life suddenly become meaningful.
Fire meditation is probably the quickest method to experience a true level of enlightenment and to find out your purpose on this planet.
- Joy Like Never Before
One of the biggest problems we face today as a society is a lack of joy. Even though we have great jobs, plenty of vacation opportunities and more than often two cars, we lack the time to enjoy all of these possessions. Studies showed that people who are poor, but have more time, are more joyous and start learning to appreciate everything around them at a deeper level. However, the good news is that you don’t need to be poor or have extra time to become joyful again.
With fire meditation you can cultivate inner peace and joy without having to invest a lot of time or quit your job. This inner bliss is a direct result of your union with the absolute. Once you get to experience this joy and satisfaction, all other external pleasures pale. Best of all, you can cultivate this energy anywhere and you can learn to be content in every situation of your life.
- Remove all Obstacles
Fire meditation is so powerful that can literally awaken that hidden force inside of you, enabling you to take over and free your mind and body from all addictions, obstacles and strongholds. For instance, if you have been smoking for 10 years more than two packs of cigarettes a day, and you simply tried anything without success, just try fire meditation for a few days. You will definitely notice the difference after a few sessions.
Flame meditation, even though has been kept secret and has only been shared among select groups of yogins and gurus, is now presented to the wide public because we all need to remove obstacles in our lives and live fuller, more meaningful lives.
How to Practice Fire Meditation – A Beginner’s Guide
Here is a quick and very simple guide that will help you to make the most out of inner fire meditation:
- Sit in a comfortable position, using the right meditation support for you.
- Start by visualizing yourself as an empty space eager to be filled. Think of yourself as a hollow, large balloon. Try to focus on this image, and make it a positive one.
- Continue by visualizing a channel that goes up, starting from your toes to the top of your head. Establish this visualization in your mind.
- Imagine how your energy is traveling through that vertical channel you’ve just imagined. Moreover, imagine a ball of flame that is ignited by your breath. Imagine your breath going into that ball of fire and stop breathing for at least 10 seconds. Experienced fire meditation practitioners and gurus can hold their breath for up to 5 minutes, but you should not try to hold it for more than 15 seconds, especially in the beginning.
- Now it’s the time to release all the energy you’ve created. Slowly breathe out the remaining air and imagine that all the fire inside the ball is released, bursting out from the top of your head. In case you need healing, try to imagine that you are releasing this energy all throughout your body.
- Repeat steps 2 through 5 for at least 5 times, up to 10 times.
Personally, I consider that this practice is by far the best I’ve ever encountered. Even though Tummo meditation practitioners have not yet mastered the skills of most Tibetan gurus who can withstand heat, cold weather and even fire, many people have still managed to remove anxiety, gain more inner peace and greatly improve their focus.
The more you practice inner fire meditation, the quicker you will get to reap its benefits and start living the perfect life you’ve always dreamed of having. This sophisticated form of breath control meditation can be quite easy to understand and to apply the more you practice.
Whether you live in Asia, America, Europe, Africa or Australia, fire meditation is an excellent method to discipline your body, gain more vitality, increase your energy all throughout the day, enjoy an improved level of concentration and experience a level of joy you’ve never thought to be possible.
Inner fire meditation is the most advanced, yet the most beneficial meditation technique available today. Practice it and you won’t regret.
